CSX announced Friday morning to employees in Russell, Kentucky, that the company will be closing the Russell Locomotive Shop and eliminating 113 positions. CSX issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice in conjunction with the shop closure.“As a result of the locomotive shop closure, 113 positions are being eliminated, and impacted employees were sent home after the announcement,” according to an email from a CSX spokesperson. “Furloughed union employees will be covered by the terms of their collective bargaining agreements and will receive at least 60 days of regular pay and benefits.”
